| Our Ministries Coordinator Karen's Message But with his persistence God picks us up, gives us words of hope | May, 2005 |

| Spring is such a wonderful time of the year, the air is fresh, the grass is transforming from a dirty brown color to a vibrant green and the birds are gradually returning from their winter retreat. Birds have a lot of work to do when they return; they have to build new nests in preparation for the arrival of new baby birds hatching. You know birds are one of Gods more persistent creatures. You might have had this same experience that Gary and I have had, the story goes something like this: When a mother and father bird decide on a certain location to build their nest it’s quit difficult to change their mind. Every spring they try to build their nest right outside our front door behind the outside light. Momma and daddy bird diligently place their strands of straw and twigs on the porch, then at night One year we just plain gave up and let them build the nest on the porch, but whenever somebody came to the front door they were greeted by the momma bird diving straight at their head, well you can image what a sight that was and what commotion; birds screeching and people screaming. Birds don’t necessarily build their homes in the most practical area, but they don’t want to take advice from a human who thinks they know better either, you know that sounds like US when God is leading you and me. God is persistent. He is always giving us advice and showing us the way and we continue to be like birds building nests, heading in a different direction. Sooner or later the painful realization occurs to us that we made a wrong turn and we are left feeling needy and maybe even feeling a little hopeless. But with his persistence God picks us up, gives us words of hope and promises us that when we grow weary, He will be right beside us, watching us, providing for us and the harvest will always be there for us to reap. |
