My grade school years were spent at the little school on the hill, Token Creek School . I am sure many of you remember the school and some of you may have also attended that school. The school had all eight grades in one room with one teacher and everybody was pretty much friends with everybody and everyday something unexpected happened. An Unexpected Moment: It was about the same time of the year that it is now, cold outside with lots of snow on the play ground. My good friend Janice Wolff (you may know her as Jan Peterson) and I went out side to swing on the swings. You couldn’t wear pants to school during that time so we had to put our pants on under our skirts to keep warm. So anyway, I got my pants on first and ran out and started to swing. A couple of minutes later Janice came running out, cutting the corner a little too sharp and the unexpected happened, “BAM”, the corner of my swing hit Janice right in the eye. I had just given my friend a black eye. I quickly got off my swing and started to put snow on her eye, hoping that it wouldn’t swell up and turn black, but swell up and turn black it did. Janice was in pain and I felt awful that my friend was hurting. Something unexpected happens to us everyday, sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but whatever the situation may be we have to remember that we are never alone. God is with us all the way, today, tomorrow and yes “till the end of time,” and for that we are grateful. |
