Matthew 6:34
"So, then, do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will worry about itself.  Its own troubles are quite enough for the day."

During the year 356 it was recorded that 20 thousand women and 10 thousand men lead a monastic life in a single area of Egypt. They lived a very simple life in the desert. Their belongings consisted of necessary clothing and a mat to sleep on.  Their days consisted of prayer, reciting a Psalm or memorizing a portion of Scripture. They lived like this not because they had to, but because they wanted to and their lives were not filled with worry, but filled with the love of the Lord. Many of these people had been previously well off financially, until they decided to worship the Lord in solitude and in order to do this they needed to give all of their wealth to the poor.

Lives today are so hectic, we rush to work and school, we rush to the grocery store, we rush to get home to make supper, kids are rushing to school activities, sporting activities, and then if we’re not running somewhere we’re worrying about what needs to be done or what hasn’t been done, or worry about something that might never even happen. Does this sound familiar to you? It does to me! Gary tells me that if I don’t have anything to worry about, I will invent something to worry about.

My Grandma Zimmerman always said "why worry about it, there’s nothing you can do about it anyway", and this is so true, because ultimately God has the dominating power in our lives.  God doesn’t necessarily want us to live a monastic life in solitude in order to know Him and to have peace in our lives, God wants us to open up our hearts and minds so that He can fill us full of love and when we’re full of love there won’t be room for the worry. Change what you can, accept what you can’t, and pray that God gives you the knowledge to distinguish between the two.

Hugs and Prayers,
