Wherever the Holy Spirit is at work

Holy Spirit

In my Lutheran Confessions class we are studying about the Holy Spirit. The book which we are studying from is Christian Theology by Bradley C. Hanson and he states,

“To live according to the flesh does not mean merely following physical
desires; it means human beings living as though they are the masters or
mistresses of their own lives and not responsible to God.  To live according
to the Spirit is to live with trust in and loyalty to God and Christ.”

When I read that statement I shuddered just a little, because that meaning hit just a little to close to home.  Many times we feel we are in complete control of everything in our lives, and we don’t necessarily need God during those times.  Then our lives start to spin out of control and we turn to God to fix it.  Has this ever happened to you?

“To live according to the Spirit is to live with trust in and loyalty to God and Christ.”  The statement is pretty simple to say, but the meaning carries a huge punch.

The Holy Spirit brings newness, recreation, renewal of purpose, mission and calling as God’s people.  Wherever the Holy Spirit is at work people will come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.  It is the job of the Holy Spirit to teach us about Jesus and give honor and glory to Him.  The Holy Spirit comes to live inside us when we ask Jesus into our hearts.  He marks us as God’s children and will never leave us.

Has your heart been touched?  Have you boldly spread the word of God?  Do you understand what it means to be a Christian?  Do you live with trust and loyalty to God? Do you do everything you can to serve the Lord?  Where does God rank in your life?

The Holy Spirit is here to stay and will never leave us alone.  So with that said it is time, time to live according to the Spirit a time to live with trust in and loyalty to God and Christ. A time to work for the Lord.  A time to open up our hearts to God.
