Psalm 118:24 this is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

I am trying very hard to believe in Psalm 118:24, but everyday gets harder and harder for me. It’s not that I’m not happy with my life or that I’m depressed, its just that when I wake up in the morning, I want the temperature to be right around 65, not 45.  By noon I want the temp to be 78, not 65, and at five o’clock I want the temp to be 82, not 70.  Come on, I don’t think that’s too much to ask, after all, it's spring, which is flying fast into summer.

Not everybody has the same feelings that I do though, like Dave Weinberger, our janitor.  He comes in the morning, opens all the windows up and says "it's good to get some fresh air in here" as Silvia and I have our space heaters running full blast.

Life is funny, isn’t it? We all have different wants, needs and ideas as to how things, and our lives, should be, but ultimately when it comes to the weather, and so many other things in our life, we don’t have a say.  None of us are in total charge, even though we think we are. There is only one who has the ultimate control, and that is God, but God has given us the ability to make our own choices.

God has made everyday for us, and how we chose to live out those days becomes our choice. I can chose to make myself be miserable by walking around sulking in the house because the weather isn’t the way I want it to be, or I can chose to "rejoice and be glad in it" by putting a jacket on and going outside for a walk.

If we let it, our minds can play tricks on us, for instance, if we make up our mind that we are going to be happy today, we pretty much will be happy and can deal with the issues put before us, and if we decide life is going to suck today, life pretty much will suck.

I am sure you have heard the saying "Live today to the fullest, because you don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring". Everyday is what you make it, we all have that freedom, and the choices are ours. Everyday is another day God has given us, don’t waste it, let your heart be filled with God’s love and share that love with everybody who touches your life.

"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it," Psalm 118:24.
