Burke Lutheran Church
Preach. Teach. Reach.

One of my most favorite times of the year here at Burke is Vacation Bible School week and this year was no different.  It was wonderful seeing 30 smiling faces bounce through the front door generating excitement way over the top, and the eagerness to learn about Jesus was overwhelming.  They were pumped and ready to go.

This year they learned about obedience, honor, forgiveness and faith.  They learned that it's not always easy to forgive somebody who has done not nice things to you, but they heard about that's what Jesus did.  He forgave his enemies, and if Jesus could forgive they could too.  Our little ones learned that in order to have faith, you have to believe in Jesus without seeing Him, which isn't always easy, but they know that no matter what, Jesus is always in our hearts, and He is always with us no matter what.

The excitement and willingness to learn didn't wear off as the week went on.  They craved more and more.  Several little ones came up to me the last day and said they wished VBS would last a WHOLE month instead of four days.  They enjoyed being here, they enjoyed making crafts, they enjoyed singing, they enjoyed the puppet Victor and they enjoyed learning about Jesus.

It doesn't matter if you're young or old, learning about Jesus never ends.  It is always a joy.  This fall there will be lots of learning opportunities for every age.  All you have to do is make Jesus a priority in your life just like the VBS kids did this summer.

Are you pumped and ready to go?  Come, laugh, celebrate, learn and worship Jesus.  Just because we're all grown up doesn't mean we know it all.  Jesus has lots more to tell us.
