Karen's Message

December, 2004

“Away in a manger, no crib for his bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head; The stars in the sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.”

Ever since I was a little girl this has been my favorite Christmas Song. When you sing the words you can just see the little baby all snuggled in sleeping softly, you can hear those quiet little squeaky sounds a baby makes when they are sleeping, you can almost smell that fresh new baby smell, and you can almost feel how soft the skin of that tiny baby is.

Can you picture the love in Mary and Joseph’s eyes as they looked at that little baby lying before them? Along with love in Mary’s heart, she must have had fear in her heart, knowing that she had given birth to the Christ Child and wondering what life was going to be like for that sweet child lying before her.

This Christmas season when your running from mall to mall trying to find that perfect gift, or feeling overwhelmed by all the things you want to get done before Christmas, stop, sit, and think. Think about that baby sleeping, smell the new baby, and imagine the softness of that little baby. That’s what Christmas is all about it’s about the Baby, Baby Jesus.

Have a Merry Christmas
